Inside Scouting New England: What Happens After a Player Submits a New Free Player Profile?

What Happens After a Player Submits a New Free Player Profile or is identified by a SNE Recruiting Analyst?

Submitting a player profile to Scouting New England is the first step in our prospect identification and evaluation process. For players and families, understanding that process helps clarify what SNE provides for free, how prospects qualify for our database, and what additional benefits come with the SNE Player All Inclusive Membership. Both player memberships serve football players in grades 9–12 across New England who have varsity-level film available for review.

A submission begins the evaluation process. Placement on an SNE prospect list is earned through evaluation and is not automatic.

The first step: SNE’s internal All-Star List

When a player submits a profile, SNE places the player’s information on our internal All-Star List. This is a private working list used to identify and evaluate players. It is not a public ranking or the college-coach prospect database.

The same starting point applies when an SNE scout identifies a potential future college prospect and enters that player’s information. Whether a player reaches us through a submission or through scouting, the next step is reviewing the player’s film.

Being on the internal All-Star List means the player has entered our scouting process. It does not mean the player has already earned a college projection or qualified for a published list.

Film review determines the next step

SNE reviews the available film and evaluates the player’s demonstrated football skills to determine whether the player currently projects as a future college football prospect.

Players who receive that projection can qualify for one of two lists, organized by their New England state and graduation class:

  • SNE Recruit Ranking List: For evaluated college prospects who have actual college verbal offers. An offer is a requirement for this list; submitting a profile or purchasing a membership does not establish eligibility.
  • SNE Top Prospect Watch List: For players whose evaluations support a future college projection but who are not placed on the Recruit Ranking List. This is a prospect list, not a numbered ranking.

A player who does not yet grade into either list remains on the internal All-Star List. As that player develops and additional film becomes available, SNE can reassess whether the player’s skills support a future college projection.

Remaining on the internal list reflects the player’s current evaluation. Development can create opportunities for a different assessment later.

How the New England Prospect Database is built

Together, SNE’s state Recruit Ranking Lists and Top Prospect Watch Lists make up the New England Prospect Database, covering Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont.

For a qualifying player, this means their profile becomes part of the prospect information SNE makes available to college coaches.

Only college coaches receive access to the full prospect database and players’ personal contact information, and that access is free for college coaches. A player membership does not provide access to other prospects’ private contact information.

This distinction matters: access to view SNE recruiting reports or ranking lists is a separate benefit from access to the full college-coach database.

What the free membership provides

The SNE Basic New-Player Film Evaluation Membership gives players a free entry point into the SNE scouting process. It includes an intake brief highlight-film review and eligibility for random monthly social media player/profile promotion.

If the player grades as a projected future college player and qualifies for the appropriate list, their profile information is included in the SNE Prospect/Player Database.

Random monthly promotion does not mean every free member receives a scheduled promotional post each month.

The free membership also does not include a full written skill evaluation, consultation, or delivery of an individual college projection grade. SNE still evaluates players internally to make placement decisions; receiving that grade and the expanded evaluation services is an All Inclusive benefit.

What the All Inclusive membership adds

The SNE Player All Inclusive Membership is $99 annually and provides a more extensive evaluation service, scheduled monthly profile promotion, and access to additional SNE recruiting content.

What happens when SNE receives a new All Inclusive membership?

The player enters the same identification and evaluation process described above, with the additional services included in the paid membership.

  1. Profile intake: SNE receives the player’s submitted information and varsity-level film. A newly submitted player enters the internal All-Star List for review.
  2. Film review and full evaluation: SNE will contact the player and family for a consultation and gather additional recruiting information needed to complete a full written skill evaluation. A recruiting analyst then reviews the player’s most recent highlight film and completes the full profile/skill evaluation included with the membership.
  3. Evaluation feedback: Following completion of the full evaluation, the membership includes the player’s college projection grade, written evaluation, and consultation.
  4. List placement decision: If the player qualifies, SNE places the player on the appropriate state Ranking List or state Top Prospect Watch List. Actual college verbal offers remain required for the Recruit Ranking List.
  5. Ongoing membership benefits: The player receives scheduled monthly social media profile promotion and access to the recruiting reports, ranking lists, and verbal scholarship offer tracker included in the membership.

The evaluation standard applies to both memberships. All Inclusive provides additional services and access; purchasing it does not automatically qualify a player for a ranking or prospect-list placement.

For players seeking an introduction to SNE’s scouting process, the free membership provides an opportunity to submit film and be evaluated for potential inclusion. For families seeking fuller evaluation feedback, consultation, scheduled promotion, and access to SNE’s recruiting coverage, All Inclusive offers those additional benefits.

Every player’s path begins with identification and film review. From there, demonstrated skills and the SNE evaluation determine the next step.
