The University of Rhode Island Football program held their 1st prospect camp of the 2026 season on June 4, 2026. In this report, I will highlight players who grabbed my attention during the camp and provide a brief skill analysis summary of what I observed for each player.
Elijah Rosen Class of 2028 6’1” 220lbs ATH ST. MARKS SCHOOL
Elijah Rosen stood out at the recent URI college showcase with his polished movement skills and body control in both individual drills and competitive 7-on-7 segments. At 6’1″ and 220 pounds, he showed up in excellent shape with a compact, athletic build that suggests he can add good weight without losing quickness. Rosen ran smooth, crisp routes with excellent footwork, consistently separating from defensive backs in 1-on-1s using subtle head fakes and shoulder dips. His ability to accelerate into breaks and maintain balance was noticeable, highlighted by impressive throttle control—he throttled down effectively on short and intermediate routes, then exploded out of his cuts. This trait allows him to create windows in zone coverage and avoid over-running his breaks. Overall, Elijah Rosen is a refined pass-catcher whose movement skills should translate quickly to the college game. His combination of size, route running, and change-of-direction ability gives him immediate value in spread or pro-style offenses that utilize hybrid tight ends and slot weapons, making him a more polished version of several current mid-major move TEs who have carved out productive roles.
Kai Young Class of 2028 6’0” 185lbs LB/ATH SUFFIELD ACADEMY
Kai Young stood out immediately in a competitive URI college showcase. His fast feet allowed him to win at the line of scrimmage and create instant separation in his routes. Explosive in the first 10-15 yards, he hits top speed quickly, making him a legitimate threat on underneath routes and after the catch. Young was one of the most productive receivers on the field, consistently catching multiple balls in traffic while demonstrating the ability to high-point the football and attack it at its highest point, particularly on fades and back-shoulder throws along the boundary. He possesses the quickness and ball skills that translate well to the college game. His combination of size, speed, and reliable hands gives him excellent versatility, allowing him to align effectively both outside and in the slot.
Ersiljano Callo Class of 2028 6’2”, 270lbs OL ST. JOHNS SHREWSBURY
Ersiljano Callo is a big, physical interior lineman who showed up strong at the recent URI showcase. At 6’2 and 285 pounds, he brings the size and power colleges look for, along with enough athleticism and base strength to potentially slide inside on offense if a program wants to develop him as a guard. He plays with a natural wide base, quick hands, and better movement than most big bodies at this stage. In the agility and position-specific drills, Callo moved well for a 285-pounder, showing solid change-of-direction ability and the ability to redirect without losing balance. His wide base helped him maintain leverage through contact, and he rarely got washed out of plays. While still raw in some technical areas, his physical tools and competitiveness were evident throughout the day. New England coaches and fans should keep a close eye on Callo this upcoming season—he has the tools to dominate at the high school level and continue climbing recruiting boards.
Daniel Cote Jr. Class of 2028 5’10”, 230lbs LB RISE PREP ACADEMY
Daniel Cote Jr. is a compact, explosive, and highly physical New England prospect who showed up ready to compete at the recent URI showcase. At 5’10” and a solid 230 pounds, he brings a thick, powerful build that belies his quickness and agility. Cote plays with a natural low pad level, stays square, and consistently wins with leverage and attitude, profiling as a between-the-tackles hammer who can also bounce outside and make defenders miss in space. He is the type of player college coaches love to have on their roster — tough, physical, and always around the football. His combination of low pad level, fast feet, quick hips, and physicality gives him a high floor as a run-stuffing linebacker. In the run-fit and scrape drills, Cote repeatedly drove well on the ball with a low pad level, delivering physical strikes that knocked ball carriers off their tracks. He didn’t shy away from contact — he sought it. Against tight ends and lead blockers, he held the point of attack effectively for his size and showed the ability to shed and pursue. His short-area burst allowed him to close downhill quickly and make plays in tight quarters. While formal testing numbers weren’t highlighted, his on-field movement suggested plus athleticism for a 230-pound linebacker in a phone-booth setting, and coaches in attendance took notice of his consistent effort level across all reps.
Caden Reese Class of 2029 Edge 6’1” 240lbs SUFFIELD ACADEMY
Caden Reese is a high-motor, physical edge prospect who consistently shows up as one of the more disruptive pass rushers in the recent URI showcase. At 6’1″, 240 lbs, he plays with a stout, compact build that allows him to win in multiple ways. He is not a pure long-lever athlete but compensates with explosive quickness, violent hands, and excellent body control that lets him play bigger than his listed measurements suggest. Reese consistently won the initial phase of the rep with a lightning-quick first step off the ball. He was routinely the first player across the line in group drills, creating immediate pressure on interior and tackle alignments. His hands are active and heavy. Reese does not just swipe—he strikes and sheds with intent. Violent inside hand placement allowed him to control the breastplate of taller tackles and discard them efficiently. Compact, violent edge rusher with a quick first step, heavy hands, and the ability to win with speed, power, or bend. Plays with great leverage and body control. High-motor competitor who should be a productive high school player.
